We are excited to provide you all with the updates from the Algorand gaming community this week and hope you are as excited to dig into them. This week we talk about Anirand releasing a ton of project updates, NexusASA completing their smart contract, Fracctal’s team goes full time, a few new games we are tracking and many more updates!

Guild Update

As was announced on our twitter a few days ago, we unfortunately had to reschedule our next Algorand Gaming Twitter Space to Mar 12th at 7pm EST. This was due to unforeseen circumstances that made it difficult to provide a quality space on the 5th. However, we have been in discussions with various developers and have obtained commitments from a lot of them — we even have some giveaways for the Space so we hope you all join!

Anirand

This week, we start off with a game that has created tons of buzz over the last few weeks. Every time they are not in one of our newsletters, we get pinged to find out why not, that’s how much buzz! This week the team continued the presales of their NFTs and each sale period sold out within minutes. Then they gave us even more juicy updates with the release of their whitepaper (even if you are not much of a reader, it’s worth it!), announcement of their token presale starting on March 13th and also a sneak peak into their property system. We are super excited to get our hands on this game when it is ready, as we assume you all are too!

As part of their whitepaper release, the team is also holding a giveaway of 5 of their NFT characters. There are 7 days left to enter on the day of this newsletter release!

NexusASA

We haven’t spoken much about Nexus ASA since our first newsletter but that’s because they have been working hard at finishing up their smart contract. For those who don’t know, Nexus ASA is creating a smart contract as well as an ASA exchange to connect users and aid in the buying and selling of digital goods and services, such as in-game currency, in-game services, NFTs, software, etc. This service is valuable for blockchain games, as well as non-blockchain games alike.

This week the team announced that their smart contract is complete, including initial support for their GP token, as well as Algos, USDC and STBL. They are just finalizing their webUI and then the smart contract will be available for community testing!

Fracctal Monsters

Fracctal Monsters is a project we have been following for a while now and the updates from the team always get more and more exciting! If you have been hiding under a rock this whole time, this project is a monster taming game that is being developed by a fully doxed team… what are the chances?! This week we caught up with their founder / developer and got some exciting news. The team is now officially working full-time on the project and the project has also been fully funded! As a result of them being fully funded, the team is also looking to expand so it looks like there are big things to come! Check out their in-progress informational website that can be previewed at this link: https://fracctal-monsters-info.herokuapp.com/#/home.

Other Gaming Updates

  • Alchemon: This week the Alchemon team had a great video come out curtesy of @nftARTglxy. The video covers everything Alchemon related and includes some great Q&A with Clifford! Clifford also revealed that more Alchemon packs will be coming out on the 18th of this month!
  • GoDrones: This week one of the great members of the Algorand community, @BCIGVA, worked with various NFT projects in our ecosystem to obtain NFTs which were auctioned off. The total proceeds went to the International Red Cross to help their efforts during the crisis in Ukraine (A total of $11,814 was raised). As part of this initiative, GoDrones won the auction for the Starface NFT and now has it as a prize for their weekly leaderboard.
  • Elephalgos: We covered the release of the Elephalgos platform game in detail before and we continue to enjoy everything their team is doing. This week they made a donation to African Wildlife Foundation for 10% of all sales of their NFTs (Crypto giving back to the community is always welcome). The team also released an open source Discord bot for NFT verifications which could be helpful to any developers reading this letter.
  • Alvatars Tile Fighters: Just after our next Twitter Space on Mar 12, Alvatars Tile Fighters will be holding their second Town Hall at 9pm EST. Join in to ask any questions you have and to listen to their overall vision for the game. They will also be doing a raffle for 2 attendees who will each win a Season 1 pack. With pack opening soon, it’s a great chance to get your hands on a one!
  • tinyhorse/STUPIDHORSE Racing: This week, the first publicly-available asset for their new 2tinyhorse series of NFTs was auctioned off for an amazing 225 Algo! The release of this series is aimed at getting more users into their races.
  • Arcadian Tales: Arcadian Tales have updated their Discord bot feature, now showing leaderboards with top levelers and player locations! If you want to see an incredible bot in action, check this one out!
  • Algo Leagues: This wee our friends over Algo Leagues held some more shuffles for their legendary level NFTs (One of our co-founders got two for themselves!). The team also has their ALC prize swap going live Tuesday, March 8th where players can use AlgoLeagues Coin to buy NFTs.

For those who haven’t seen this section in our newsletter before, these are games that the guild started tracking in the last few weeks. These could be games you knew about all along but as we expand our tracking, we identify games we weren’t aware about before. To bring some awareness for these games to our community, we throw a one or two-liner description of each below.

  • Ill Beans Society: An NFT-based interactive webcomic 3.0 series & textual RPG game. Even if you aren’t much of a gamer, their NFTs are super quirky!
  • AlgoSprouts: A free to play game, with optional paid elements, where you grow your own garden. Players roll daily in Discord to earn fertilizer, collect a SeedHead and grow it into various plants.
  • AlgoMiners: A Discord based game where you can mine gold, diamonds and NFTs. By holding an upgradable pickaxe in your wallet, you are airdropped rocks twice a week. These rocks are traded in to crack geodes which can earn you gold, gems and one of many NFTs in the prize pool.
  • Kani World: An evolving NFT game where players use a Kani (Japanese for crab) NFTs to access the game. Players use their Kani to gather resources and challenge creatures and other players. The goal in the game is to make your Kani the strongest Kani, win the Kani Generating Event, and create new crabs.
  • AlgOcean: This is a super fun virtual finishing game made by an organization that seeks to bridge the Algorand Community with Ocean Conservation Efforts around the world.

That wraps another action-filled week in the Algorand Gaming community. As the community of players and game developers expands, we will continue to bring news to our community and help provide needed exposure to the various games in the ecosystem. As we say each week, thank you all for the support and we look forward to the future of Algorand Gaming!
